Shawn Mendes’ very first full-length album, Handwritten, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The 16-year-old is the youngest performer to have a No. 1 album since 2010, when Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 took the No. 1 spot on May 29 according to Billboard.

Within the next year, Mendes would release a self-titled EP in the summer of 2014, with his single “Life of the Party” debuting at No. 24 on the Hot 100. Today, he has nearly 4 million followers on Vine and his YouTube videos, including the video for his single “Something Big,” have garnered millions of views.
