Not all the deals have been inked yet, but unless something falls through, Fox has picked its cast for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. This time Miles Teller will be playing Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; Kate Mara will play Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Michael B. Jordan will play Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Jamie Bell will be playing against type as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
We already knew Jordan had been tapped for the Torch role, but according to Variety, Mara just closed a deal to play Sue Storm while Teller has been offered, and is expected to accept, his role. Bell reportedly hasn't received an offer yet, but will in the coming days.
We can only hope there's no weird racist backlash to Michael B. Jordan playing the typically white Johnny Storm, but we can probably expect a little weird racist backlash. We are curious, however, how they tweak his and Sue Storm's back stories since the characters are brother and sister. It's probably adoption.
For those with a memory even shorter than Hollywood, the second Fantastic Four movie came just seven years ago with Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans (now Captain America), and Michael Chiklis portrayed the iconic Marvel characters in the previous two movies.
What do you think? Is this cast better?
