It's official: Sam Clafin will star in the much desired role of Finnick Odair in Catching Fire, the 2013 sequel to the wildly popular Hunger Games film starring Jennifer Lawrence.
After weeks of speculation, Lionsgate announced that the 24-year-old Brit will suit up as Finnick, a tribute from District 4 who won the Hunger Games at age 14 and subsequently became a Lothario-type celebrity in the Capitol.
Already famous in his native England thanks to recurring roles in multiple BBC series, Clafin is set to take the States by storm. American audiences might recognize Clafin from his role in Snow White and the Huntsman, and, in addition to Catching Fire, Clafin has five other feature films in production, set for a 2013 release.
Clafin's casting means the Catching Fire cast is nearly complete. He'll joine Games newbies Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Tony Shalhoub, Amanda Plummer, and Lynn Cohen in the sequel.
