Chris Colfer, the 22-year-old openly gay actor who plays Kurt Hummel on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, says he was bullied at school.
In a feature interview with men's fashion website Mr. Porter, Colfer explained that he originally auditioned for the part of Artie.
“I was auditioning for the part of Artie, the kid in the wheelchair. And I didn't get it. Obviously. So that was it,” said Colfer.
But Ryan Murphy “invented a character for me. They invented Kurt specifically.”
“There are two experiences in my life that I just cannot wrap my head around. That's one. And the Golden Globes was the other. I just cannot believe they happened,” he said.
Colfer added that much like the character he plays on television he was harassed at school for his sexual orientation.
“I was harassed at school every day, called 'faggot,' I had things taped to my back,” he said.
Colfer modeled wares from several designers in the site's photo spread, including Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Linda Farrow Luxe, Dolce & Gabbana and Lanvin.
