It's been four years since Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg teamed up for the surprisingly well-received Adventureland, and now the two are getting back together for the absurdly titled American Ultra. The movie will be helmed by Project X director Nima Nourizadeh, working with a script penned by Max Landis, who has turned into an incredibly hot commodity since writing Chronicle. (For those curious, yes he is director John Landis' son.)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eisenberg will play an "unmotivated stoner" named Mike, and Stewart will play his live-in girlfriend. Somehow Mike becomes the target of every stoner's most paranoid nightmare — a government plot to wipe him out.
Indie producer Anthony Bregman describes it thusly: "Simply put, American Ultra will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without the use of drugs, fireworks or canola oil."
All right then.
