When news broke that singer Austin Mahone had been forced to postpone his debut tour due to illness, fans started to freak out. Just the day before, Mahone had tweeted that he had a "bad flu," apologizing for needing to reschedule shows in Miami and Orlando. But it was pretty clear based on tweets posted on Austin's behalf Thursday evening that he was dealing with something much scarier than your average case of influenza. "We feel very bad but we have no choice but to POSTPONE the tour for now," Austin's mother Michele explained. "Thank you for your prayers #Prayfor Austin."
According to PEOPLE, Mahone is in the hospital being treated for a blood clot, extreme inflammation in his throat, and severe dehydration. He is expected to recover, but the tour is unlikely to happen until 2014, as he's on "strict doctor's orders to stay on rest."
On Thursday, Michele Mahone posted a picture of her son on a hospital bed with the caption, "My poor baby... I cannot remember the last time he was so sick."
Mahone, who hails from San Antonio, Texas, recently signed to Cash Money Records to work on his debut album. He was the winner of the "Artist to Watch" award at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
