Mini Biography

Nick Robinson made his film debut starring as Joe in CBS Films' critically-acclaimed adventure The Kings of Summer (2013), followed by shooting a lead role in the Universal action adventure sequel Jurassic World (2015), where he starred alongside Chris Pratt, Judy Greer, Vincent D'Onofrio and Bryce Dallas Howard. In 2015, Nick had the lead role of a drug-addicted teenager in Rob Reiner's drama Being Charlie (2015), and in 2016, played Ben Parish in Sony Pictures' adaptation of Rick Yancey's bestselling science fiction novel The 5th Wave (2016), helmed by J Blakeson and co-starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Also among his credits is HBO drama Boardwalk Empire (2010).

Continuing his streak of novels-to-films, Nick starred with Amandla Stenberg in the 2017 romance Everything, Everything (2017), and played the title role of a gay teenager in the well-received 2018 dramedy Love, Simon (2018).

Nick was born in Seattle, Washington, to Denise Podnar and Michael Robinson.

• Nick attended Seattle Prep for his freshman year before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
• Nick has 4 siblings, all of whom are younger than he is, and 2 half-siblings, both of whom are older than he.
• He gets consistent comparisons to actor James Franco. He has stated that he would like to work with him someday.
• While still living in Seattle, Nick's parents put him into a theatre program called Broadway Bound, which is eventually what got him discovered as an actor.

• Nick was accepted into New York University in 2013 shortly prior to his High School graduation from Campbell Hall - but deferred his first year to work on another season of Melissa & Joey (2010).

• Nick was one of the main actors considered to play Augustus Waters in The Fault in Our Stars (2014), but the role eventually went to Ansel Elgort.
• Over the course of his time on Melissa & Joey (2010), Nick grew about a foot in height which is why on the show there are consistent jokes about his character Ryder being a giant.
• When it was announced that Ready Player One (2018) was set to become a film, Steven Spielberg immediately wanted Nick to play the main protagonist, Wade Watts, after working with him on Jurassic World (2015) . The role eventually went to Tye Sheridan.
• He is close friends with his The 5th Wave (2016) co-star, Maika Monroe.
• His maternal grandfather is of Croatian descent.
